The $36 million expansion of the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex is nearing completion, with crews putting the final touches on the 90-acre addition despite recent storms.
The expansion will add five new soccer fields, six baseball fields, freshwater ponds, walking trails, playgrounds, and picnic shelters. City officials expect the expanded facilities to further enhance the park’s reputation as one of the premier sports destinations in the Southeast.
Originally scheduled to open in September, the project’s timeline may be slightly delayed by weather, but city leaders still anticipate opening later this fall.
Future plans include a 15-court pickleball facility at Central Park and an expanded Christmas Light Show at the sports complex during the holiday season. The city has also reappointed seven volunteers to the North Myrtle Beach Recreation Commission to help guide future recreational planning.
