New Businesses Announced for Calabash Commons Near North Myrtle Beach
A new commercial development just north of the South Carolina border is expected to bring several restaurants and retail businesses to the northern end of the Grand Strand.
Construction has begun on Calabash Commons, a new shopping plaza located at the northwest corner of Calabash Road and U.S. Highway 17 in Carolina Shores, North Carolina. The development sits less than a mile from Horry County and is a short drive from the Little River and Cherry Grove areas of North Myrtle Beach.
The plaza will be anchored by a Publix grocery store, one of the most recognized supermarket chains in the Southeast.
According to a retail site map published for available leasing space, several businesses are already planned for the Calabash Commons development.
Restaurants and Businesses Planned
- Dunkin’
- Eggs Up Grill
- Firehouse Subs
- McDonald’s
- River Oaks Pizzeria
- CVS Pharmacy
- Chase Bank
River Oaks Pizzeria, a locally owned restaurant with locations throughout the Myrtle Beach area and Surfside Beach, is among the businesses planned for the development.
Another local restaurant, Cutty’s Pizza in Little River, has also announced plans to relocate to the new plaza later this year.
Additional Development Planned Nearby
The retail site map indicates that approximately seven additional spaces remain available, suggesting that more businesses could be announced as the project continues to develop.
Additional projects planned in the area include a new Walmart, a Wawa convenience store and gas station, and a Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers location.
The Little River and Carolina Shores corridor has experienced steady residential and commercial growth in recent years as more people move to coastal communities along the North Carolina–South Carolina border.
With its proximity to North Myrtle Beach, the area continues to attract new businesses serving both local residents and visitors traveling through the Grand Strand.
