MYR Expands Concourse A with Six New Gates to Enhance Traveler Experience
Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) has completed a major expansion of Concourse A, marking one of the most significant upgrades in its recent history. The project, supported by more than $100 million in federal and state funding, introduces six new gates designed to accommodate the steady increase in travelers coming to the Grand Strand.
The expanded concourse features upgraded restrooms, refreshed flooring, improved signage and flow, and newly added concessions that aim to make the airport experience more welcoming and efficient. Although it is a large-scale investment, the expansion was completed under budget, allowing remaining funds to be redirected toward improvements on the airport’s first floor. The goal is to create a seamless experience for passengers the moment they step through the entrance.
MYR is already planning further enhancements, including updates to TSA operations, baggage claim efficiency, and future runway capabilities. These developments reflect the airport’s role as a critical gateway to a region where tourism continues to grow rapidly.
South Carolina’s tourism industry has become a major economic driver, and expansions like this help connect Myrtle Beach to more travelers across the country. The new gates are scheduled to open this month, offering additional capacity for airline partners and giving visitors a smoother start to their vacations on the Grand Strand.
