North Myrtle Beach Oyster Roast for the Coast Set for February 28
North Myrtle Beach will once again gather for one of its most meaningful coastal traditions when the Oyster Roast for the Coast takes place on February 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Boardwalk Billy’s, located at 1407 13th Avenue North.
Organized by the North Myrtle Beach Chamber Foundation, the annual event blends coastal cuisine with environmental stewardship, bringing residents and visitors together to support local shoreline preservation efforts.
More than just a seafood celebration, the Oyster Roast for the Coast serves a practical purpose. Proceeds help fund oyster shell recycling initiatives that contribute directly to improving area water quality, strengthening marine habitats, and supporting long-term coastal resilience.
Oysters play an essential role in maintaining healthy waterways. By recycling oyster shells back into coastal ecosystems, new reef structures can form, helping filter water naturally while protecting against erosion. These efforts benefit both marine life and the broader coastal community.
The event offers a family-friendly atmosphere, inviting guests to enjoy fresh oysters and community fellowship while contributing to a sustainable cause. Ticket prices are set at $40 for adults ages 12 and up and $15 for children 11 and under. Tickets will also be available at the door for $50. Gratuity is not included. Advance tickets may be purchased at the Destination North Myrtle Beach Visitor Information Center during regular operating hours.
Late February provides a quieter season along the Grand Strand, allowing visitors to experience North Myrtle Beach’s authentic character without peak summer crowds. Community-driven events like the Oyster Roast for the Coast reflect the area’s strong local identity — one rooted in stewardship of natural resources and shared coastal heritage.
The Oyster Roast for the Coast continues to grow as a regional gathering that highlights both culinary tradition and environmental responsibility, reinforcing North Myrtle Beach’s commitment to preserving the shoreline for generations to come.
For those visiting the area during the event weekend, the celebration offers an opportunity to enjoy local flavor while supporting the ongoing protection of the coast.
