Little River Patriots Day

A new tradition is taking root along the Grand Strand. The Little River Chamber of Commerce has announced the launch of the inaugural Patriot’s Day, a heartfelt community celebration set for Saturday, September 13, 2025, designed to honor military veterans, first responders, and public service members from across the region.

Taking place at the Little River waterfront, the event is more than a tribute—it’s a day of remembrance, education, and community unity. The festivities will begin with a parade through the heart of Little River, featuring color guards, local veteran groups, and civic organizations. A ceremony will follow, marked by patriotic music, the presentation of a commemorative wreath by the U.S. Coast Guard, and a gathering of community members reflecting on the value of service and sacrifice.

In addition to honoring those who serve, Patriot’s Day will include several initiatives aimed at education and environmental stewardship. Among them is the creation of a permanent memorial site at Vereen Memorial Gardens—a serene space where visitors can reflect year-round. Also planned are annual scholarships for high school students in the fields of art, writing, and public speaking, encouraging younger generations to engage with themes of patriotism and civic duty.

Adding a distinctive coastal element, the celebration will feature a community boat procession, further embracing the maritime character of Little River. Plans are also underway for the construction of a 911 Artificial Reef, which will serve both as a tribute to emergency responders and an enhancement to the local marine ecosystem.

The atmosphere is expected to be both moving and celebratory, with family-friendly activities, live music, and opportunities for guests to connect with organizations that support veterans and public servants. Businesses, individuals, and community groups are encouraged to participate, whether through sponsorships, volunteering, or in-kind support.

With its rich blend of honor, heritage, and hope, Patriot’s Day is shaping up to be a powerful annual tradition for the Little River area—one that recognizes the past, enriches the present, and inspires the future.
