Slime Kitchen, a California-based franchise specializing in interactive, make-your-own slime experiences, has opened its first South Carolina location at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach. The franchise is operated by Michael Donovan, an award-winning chef who had originally been searching for a restaurant space in the area, and his wife, Maria. The official grand opening is scheduled for April 10, 2026.
Donovan said he had never heard of Slime Kitchen until his 10-year-old daughter introduced him to the brand after discovering it on TikTok and Instagram. After researching the franchise, the couple decided to bring the concept to the Grand Strand. The business has become a family operation, with both the Donovans’ daughter and 12-year-old son actively involved.
The new location sits near Ripley’s Aquarium within the 350-acre Broadway at the Beach entertainment complex at 1325 Celebrity Circle. The complex draws an estimated 14 million visitors annually and is home to more than 100 specialty shops and over 20 restaurants.
What the Experience Includes
Slime Kitchen offers a guided 10-step process in which guests select a slime base from six varieties, add scents and colors, mix in textures such as glitter and foam beads, and combine everything using a KitchenAid mixer. All materials are food-safe and non-toxic. Guests take their finished slime home at the end of the session.
The business also offers birthday party packages in two tiers — a standard package with one slime creation per guest and a premium option with two. Parties include a dedicated host, games, prizes, and diplomas. Group workshops are available for camps and school field trips.
Grand Opening Details
The grand opening on April 10 will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony and is open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome at the Myrtle Beach location, though reservations are recommended on weekends and holidays. Reservations and party bookings are available through the Slime Kitchen website at theslimekitchen.com.
Slime Kitchen joins several other new businesses arriving at Broadway at the Beach in 2026, including Ole Smoky Distillery and Yee-Haw Brewing Company. The Myrtle Beach location is the franchise’s first East Coast presence outside of its established California, Oregon, and Kentucky markets.
