Thomas Beach Vacations Joins Silver Sponsors as Woman’s Club Domestic Violence Walk Nears on Oct. 17

North Myrtle Beach, S.C. · October 12, 2026 · By Thomas Beach Vacations

The GFWC North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club has named Thomas Beach Vacations a Silver Sponsor of its sixth annual What a Difference a Mile Makes walk for domestic violence awareness, which takes place this Saturday, October 17, at the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex. The walk is free and open to the public.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Thomas Beach Vacations is among the local businesses backing this year’s walk against domestic violence in North Myrtle Beach. In an October 6 post on its Facebook page, the GFWC North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club thanked the company for serving as a Silver Sponsor of What a Difference a Mile Makes, the club’s sixth annual Walk for Domestic Violence Awareness, set for Saturday, October 17, 2026.

The walk takes place at the amphitheater in the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex, 150 Citizens Circle. According to WFXB, registration and an opening ceremony begin at 9 a.m., and the walk starts at 10 a.m. The event is free. WFXB reported that the morning will also include a 50/50 raffle, a basket raffle, food trucks and family activities, and that children and dogs are welcome.

Where the Support Goes

According to the Woman’s Club, money raised through the walk helps local programs that serve victims of domestic violence in Horry and Brunswick counties, covering practical needs such as food, gas, supplies and counseling, along with prevention education and awareness. WFXB reported that the effort supports organizations including the Family Justice Center, the Children’s Recovery Center and the Rape Crisis Center, and that the club also works with the City of North Myrtle Beach and its Police Department to provide financial help so victims can stay safe.

The club started the walk in October 2021, when the first What a Difference a Mile Makes drew more than 100 walkers and about 30 sponsors, according to the club. It chose the cause after South Carolina ranked sixth in the nation for domestic violence homicides in 2021. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and purple is its color, so expect a sea of purple shirts and ribbons around the lake on Saturday.
