The Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) is celebrating Avelo Airline’s inaugural flight Thursday with a ceremony and ribbon cutting.
The inaugural flight was scheduled to arrive at 8:25 a.m. The flight came from New Haven, Connecticut.
Myrtle Beach International Airport officials announced that they had a record-breaking year in 2021 with 3,210,247 total passengers.
The total passengers traveling through MYR in 2021, which includes both arriving and departing passengers, represents a 188% increase over 2020 and a 23% increase over 2019.
MYR now has direct flights from Myrtle Beach to New Haven, Connecticut.
The new non-stop flights are also convenient for those with a home in the area and family up north.
