The afternoon light has gone soft over Barefoot Landing, the shoppers have slowed to a stroll, and inside the taproom at Crooked Hammock Brewery the conversation has settled into that easy, unhurried hum that tells you nobody at the bar is watching the clock. Crooked Hammock is the production brewery North Myrtle Beach calls its own, and for many of the families and golf groups who stay with us it becomes the first stop on a longer and more rewarding ramble south through a Grand Strand beer scene that has grown up considerably in the past few years.

That scene now runs from a downtown Myrtle Beach brewery pouring inside a 1952 five-and-dime to a taproom whose roots go back to 1998, from a brewhouse near Market Common that serves coffee alongside its beer to a Carolina Forest newcomer that opened this spring, and on to a brewery paired with a distillery at Broadway at the Beach. On the horizon, crews have just broken ground at Grande Dunes Marina on 357 Brewers, a waterfront brewery and music venue that is aiming to open in the summer of 2027.

This guide walks the map from north to south, sharing what we know about each stop, where it sits, and how to string a few of them into a relaxed day without anyone behind the wheel who ought not to be. If you want the deeper story on the new marina project, our trip-planning look at the 357 Brewers waterfront venue and our news coverage of the groundbreaking go further, and our guide to things to do in Myrtle Beach fills in the rest of the vacation around the pints.

North Myrtle Beach: Crooked Hammock and the Local Taps

Crooked Hammock Brewery at Barefoot Landing

Crooked Hammock Brewery sits at 4924 Highway 17 South in North Myrtle Beach, part of the Barefoot Landing shopping and dining district, and it is the closest brewery to most of our rental homes and condos. The listed hours run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, though hours at any restaurant can shift with the season, so it is worth a quick call to (843) 962-7238 before you head over.

For guests staying near Windy Hill at the south end of town, Crooked Hammock is practically a neighbor, which makes it an easy late-afternoon stop after a morning on the sand. Barefoot Landing gives the rest of the group something to do while the beer drinkers linger, and it is a natural place to start a brewery day before heading south into Myrtle Beach proper.

Craft Beer on Main Street and Ocean Drive

North Myrtle Beach does not have a long list of breweries of its own, but it does have places that take their taps seriously. Main Street Taphouse and the OD Arcade & Lounge at 100 South Ocean Boulevard are two spots locals mention for craft beer, and both sit in the heart of the Ocean Drive section of North Myrtle Beach, where the shag dancers and beach music have been part of the evening soundtrack for generations. Tap lists change constantly, so confirm what is pouring before you go.

The rest of North Myrtle Beach tends to be quieter after dark, and that is part of its appeal. Guests in Cherry Grove at the north end of town and those in Crescent Beach between Ocean Drive and Windy Hill often plan a single brewery outing for the week, then spend the other evenings on the porch with a six-pack picked up along the way.

Downtown Myrtle Beach: Grand Strand Brewing and New South

Grand Strand Brewing Co.

Grand Strand Brewing Co. occupies the old Edwards Five & Dime building at 819 North Kings Highway, a structure dating to 1952 that sits in the city’s Arts & Innovation District. The brewery opened in March 2021, and there is something quietly satisfying about ordering a pint in a building where earlier generations of Myrtle Beach shoppers once browsed the aisles of a five-and-dime. It is a good stop for anyone who likes a little history with their beer, and it pairs well with an afternoon spent walking the older blocks of downtown Myrtle Beach.

New South Brewing

A few blocks away, New South Brewing at 1109 Campbell Street has been part of the local beer story since 1998, which makes it the longest-running brewery in this guide by a wide margin. That longevity counts for something in a resort town where businesses come and go with the tides, and a visit to its taproom offers a sense of how craft beer took root on the Grand Strand long before the current wave of openings. Taproom hours are not something we have confirmed, so check with the brewery before you plan around it.

Market Common and Carolina Forest: Coffee, Beer and a Spring Newcomer

Tidal Creek Brewhouse

Farther south, near the Market Common area, Tidal Creek Brewhouse at 3421 Knoles Street serves both beer and coffee, which makes it one of the more flexible stops on the Grand Strand. It works for a morning coffee while one half of the group heads out for errands, and it works just as well later in the day when the other half is ready for something with a little more malt. It is the farthest brewery in this guide from North Myrtle Beach, so it fits best on a day when you are already exploring the southern end of Myrtle Beach.

South Coast Beer Project

Inland, South Coast Beer Project opened in the spring of 2026 at 5020 Carolina Forest Boulevard, bringing a taproom to the Carolina Forest community inland from the oceanfront. Our earlier profile of South Coast Beer Project in Carolina Forest covers the opening in more detail. For visitors, it is a useful stop for anyone combining a brewery visit with a round of golf or a shopping trip away from the oceanfront traffic.

Yee-Haw Brewing at Broadway at the Beach

Broadway at the Beach added a new kind of stop in about May 2026, when Ole Smoky Distillery and Yee-Haw Brewing Co. opened together at the complex. The pairing of a moonshine distillery and a brewery under one banner gives mixed groups something to agree on, since the beer drinkers and the spirits sippers can share a table without anyone feeling like they settled.

Because Broadway at the Beach already draws families for its shops, restaurants and attractions, Yee-Haw fits neatly into a day that has little to do with beer for the rest of the party. Our guide to Ole Smoky Distillery and Yee-Haw Brewing at Broadway at the Beach has more on what to expect when you visit.

Coming in 2027: 357 Brewers at Grande Dunes Marina

The most ambitious beer project on the Grand Strand is still a construction site, but it is worth knowing about if you are planning a return trip. 357 Brewers broke ground in September 2026 at Grande Dunes Marina on the Intracoastal Waterway in Myrtle Beach, and the name comes from the waterway’s mile marker 357. Brothers Nick and Jesse Vaugh, who already run 357 Raw Coastal Bar at the marina, are behind the nearly $10 million project, and the target for opening is the summer of 2027.

Plans call for a 10,000-square-foot building on three acres, with a brewery, a full-service restaurant, bars, live music, indoor and outdoor waterfront dining, a kids’ play area, green space, and room for events and weddings. The Post and Courier reported a 5,000-square-foot outdoor pavilion, and Jesse Vaugh told the paper the site could hold concert crowds of 3,000 to 4,000 people. The beer program is set to run on a 7-barrel brewhouse with a 3-barrel pilot system under brewmaster Brad Mortensen, who brings more than 30 years of experience from New Orleans. WMBF reported the project is expected to create about 100 jobs.

Nick Vaugh has described the views from the site as one of its great draws, with the marina and sunsets to the south and the Grande Dunes bridge to the north, and Visit Myrtle Beach’s Denielle Van Dyke noted that breweries have become a genuine reason people choose where to travel. Opening dates on projects of this size tend to move, so treat summer 2027 as a target rather than a promise.

Planning a Brewery Day from a North Myrtle Beach Rental

The breweries in this guide are spread across a long stretch of coastline, and the smartest brewery days are the ones that pick two or three stops in the same part of the map rather than trying to see everything. A northern loop might pair Crooked Hammock with an evening on Ocean Drive, while a southern day could combine downtown Myrtle Beach with Broadway at the Beach, or Carolina Forest with a round of golf.

Brewery Address Area Good to Know
Crooked Hammock Brewery 4924 Hwy 17 S, North Myrtle Beach Barefoot Landing Listed hours 11 a.m. to 9 or 10 p.m.; opens 10 a.m. Sunday
Grand Strand Brewing Co. 819 N. Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach Downtown / Arts & Innovation District Opened March 2021 in the 1952 Edwards Five & Dime building
New South Brewing 1109 Campbell St, Myrtle Beach Downtown Myrtle Beach Founded 1998; confirm taproom hours
Tidal Creek Brewhouse 3421 Knoles St, Myrtle Beach Market Common area Serves both beer and coffee
South Coast Beer Project 5020 Carolina Forest Blvd Carolina Forest Opened spring 2026
Ole Smoky Distillery & Yee-Haw Brewing Co. Broadway at the Beach, Myrtle Beach Broadway at the Beach Brewery and distillery; opened about May 2026
357 Brewers Grande Dunes Marina, Myrtle Beach Intracoastal Waterway Under construction; opening targeted for summer 2027

Hours, tap lists and policies change often, so treat the table as a starting point and confirm the details with each brewery before you go. The most important piece of planning has nothing to do with beer at all. Choose a designated driver or arrange a ride before the first pint is poured, because Highway 17 and the bypass are busy roads at every hour of the vacation season, and nobody wants a good day to end badly.

One of the quiet advantages of a vacation rental is that the brewery day does not have to end at closing time. A kitchen, a refrigerator and a deck make it easy to bring home a few cans from the taproom, fire up the grill and let the evening stretch out over the ocean. Groups who want that kind of week should browse our oceanfront home rentals in North Myrtle Beach, where everyone has room to gather, or our oceanfront condo rentals for couples and smaller parties who want the view without the upkeep.
